Words alone cannot guarantee that we will understand each other

It’s not just Brexit that divides opinions. Despite the existence of globally accessible communication channels, tolerance and understanding for other cultures and views do not seem to have grown all that much.  We may resemble each another politically and culturally in many ways, but each country has its own perspectives and that is partly due to the peculiarities of language. Successful multilingual communication must take a lot more into account than just language itself.
